WBCHSE 4th Semester English Question Paper 2026: পশ্চিমবঙ্গ উচ্চমাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা সংসদের ২০২৫-২৬ শিক্ষাবর্ষের উচ্চমাধ্যমিক চতুর্থ সেমিস্টার পরীক্ষার আজ ১৩ই ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৬, শুক্রবার ছিল দ্বিতীয় দিন, আজকের পরীক্ষার বিষয় ছিল দ্বিতীয় ভাষা* (ইংরেজি) পরীক্ষা। প্রথম দিনের মতোই পরীক্ষার যথাযথ সময় তথা সকাল ৯:৫০ থেকে শুরু হয় এবং পরীক্ষা শেষ হয়  দুপুর ১২:০০ তে।

• B) What does the phrase ‘yellow leaves’ symbolize in William Shakespeare’s Sonnet 73 (LXXIII)?
• C) What is the stanzaic division and the rhyme scheme of Sonnet 73?
• D) What, according to Carl Dennis, will happen to the Plain States?

3. Answer any one question out of two:

• A) Sima wrote a letter. It contained the truth. He praised Sima for it. (Join into complex sentence)
• B) Hearing the noise Arjun got startled. (Split into two simple sentences)

7. Answer any one question (1X 6 = 6):

A) Bring out the elements of violence and brutality in ‘Hawk Roosting’.

B) How does the image of autumn reflect the speaker’s awareness of his mortality in William Shakespeare’s Sonnet 73? How do the images of autumn get compared to those of ‘fire’ and ‘twilight’ in portraying the passage of life?

C) Discuss the ecological concerns expressed in Carl Dennis’ ‘The Greenhouse Effect’.

8. Answer any one question (1 X10 = 10):

A) Write an essay (in about 150 words) on any one of the following topics:

i) Impact of Social Media on the Youth (Points: health connectivity, socialization, self-expression, creativity, information, education, addiction and distraction)

ii) Importance of Vocational Education (Points: Meaning, importance in current system, scope for employment, government encouragement)

OR B) i) Draft an e-mail (75 words) requesting school authority to register your new address and contact details.

OR Draft an email (75 words) to a guest speaker, inviting him/her to speak at the Annual Programme of your school.

ii) Write a blog (75 words) on any one:

• Increasing Air Pollution in your locality.
• Women Empowerment in Sports and Games in India.
