What problem did the poor Brahman consider to be ‘The hardest thing in the world’? Why did he think so? How did he overcome the problem?
Answer 👉🏻 The poor Brahman in The Ghost Brahman considered getting married to be “the hardest thing in the world.” He was not a Kulin Brahman, so he found it very difficult to find a bride. During that time, a large amount of money was needed for marriage, not only for the wedding expenses but also to give to the bride’s parents. Since he was poor, he could not afford it, making marriage seem impossible for him. He thought so because he had no wealth and had to depend on others for help. To arrange the money, he went from house to house, begging and flattering rich people. He struggled a lot but did not give up, as marriage was important to him. The difficulty of collecting such a huge amount made him feel that getting married was the hardest thing in the world. The Brahman overcame the problem by begging for money from rich people. He visited many houses, flattered the wealthy, and finally collected enough money for his wedding. Once he had the required amount, he got married and brought his wife home. Though it was a tough journey, his patience and hard work helped him solve the problem and achieve his goal.
Why did the Poor Brahman leave home for a long time? What did the Ghost Brahman do while he left home for a long time? How did the Brahman’s wife and mother react to the arrival of the Ghost-Brahman?
Ans.👉🏻 The Poor Brahman left home for a long time to earn a good sum to maintain his family.
In the evening of the same day of the Brahman’s departure, a ghost, assuming the appearance of the Brahman, entered the house and took charge. As the ghost was exactly like the Brahman, no one doubted his identity. Even neighbours thought that the Brahman had returned from his travels.
The Brahman’s newly married wife took the ghost Brahman to be her real husband. Taken aback by his return, she only asked the ghost why he had changed his mind and returned so soon. The ghost replied that the day was not a lucky one and he had already got hold of some money. The mother too did not doubt the identity of the Ghost-Brahman.
How did the Neat-herd King solve the Case of the Brahman?
Ans 👉🏻 When the Brahman returned home from his travels, he found that another like him had become the owner of the house. He was driven away from his own house, so he went to the King’s Court but the king failed to give him justice. One day, while he was returning from the Court in tears, he came across a neat-herd King. The Neat-herd King enquired of his misfortune. He listened to his problem and assured to give back his rights. The next morning was fixed for the trial. The neat-herd King showed them a phial and told them whichever of them would enter the Phial would be declared the rightful owner of the house. The Brahman did not like the process. But the ghost made himself into a small creature and entered into the Phial. The neat-herd Ring corked up the Phial. So the ghost could not get out. The neat-herd king advised the Brahman to throw the Phial into the bottom of the sea. Thus the Brahman lived the rest of his life happily.

Initially, the Brahman was surprised to see the ghost-Brahman, who was exactly like him. After being driven away, he became mute with wonder.
Overcoming his shock, the Brahman decided to go to the court of the king and appeal for justice.
Answer 2 👉🏻 The Brahman, upon returning to his house, finds a ghost occupying his place, living as his wife’s husband. The ghost has even managed to convince the Brahman’s mother of its identity. The experience profoundly affects the Brahman, leaving him deeply distressed and confused. He is driven from his own home, which he rightfully owns, and his wife is taken away from him. The situation is further complicated by the king’s inability or unwillingness to resolve the matter. The Brahman and the ghost’s identical appearance confused the king and he could not decide the dispute. Every day, he would ask the Brahman to come to the court the next day. But all was in vain. The Brahman returned from the palace weeping and striking his forehead with the palm of his hand daily.
The neat-herd king ultimately/finally solved the problem.
How did the Neat-herd King solve the case of the Brahman?
Answer 👉🏻 The Neat-herd King noticed the Brahman crying every day as he passed by the spot where the cowboys played. Curious, he called the Brahman and asked why he was so upset. The Brahman explained how a ghost had taken over his house, wife, and mother by pretending to be him. The Neat-herd King, determined to help, devised a clever plan. He brought a small phial with a narrow neck to the court and challenged both the Brahman and the ghost to enter it, declaring that whoever succeeded would be the rightful owner. The Brahman, being human, said it was impossible, but the ghost, overconfident in its supernatural powers, transformed into a tiny creature and entered the phial. The Neat-herd King immediately corked the bottle, trapping the ghost inside. This proved the ghost was the impostor, as no human could perform such a feat. He then advised the Brahman to throw the phial into the sea, ensuring the ghost’s permanent removal. Through this simple yet effective plan, the Neat-herd King restored the Brahman’s home, wife, and mother, demonstrating that intelligence and quick thinking can solve even the most complex problems.
